On Friday, April 16, XIS high school students hosted the 2021 Warrior Games. The Warrior Games are an annual sport meeting that the XIS community hosts for local youth with disabilities, and is an important XIS tradition. For the past 2 years, due to our 2019 school move and COVID, we were unable to host this special event. Thanks to the hard work of the XIS SGA (Student Government Association) Outreach Committee, XIS was able to once again have this opportunity to engage with the local community.
Although XIS has hosted this event several times in the past, this is the first time that Warrior Games has been a student planned, organized, and executed event. It is also the first time that the entire high school participated in the Warrior Games. As XIS students led our special guests from Xi’an’s Agape Warrior House through Frisbee baseball, an obstacle course, a basketball relay, and Bocce ball, they looked for creative ways to interact with and encourage the participants. Our guests were also good sports as they followed XIS students’ directions and were willing and eager to engage with our students. All in all, the event was a success, and one that brought smiles to staff and students’ faces alike. We look forward to future Warrior Games and other opportunities for XIS students to continue building meaningful relationships with this year’s participants. Go Warriors!
4월 16일 금요일, XIS 고등학생들이 2021년 워리어 게임을 개최했습니다. 워리어 게임은 XIS 공동체가 중국현지 장애 청소년들을 위해 매년 개최하는 스포츠 행사로 XIS의 중요한 전통입니다. 지난 2년 동안은 2019학년도 학교가 이전하면서, 또한 COVID 상황으로 인해 이 특별한 행사를 주최할 수 없었습니다. XIS 학생운영위원회(SGA)의 노력으로 인해, XIS는 지역 사회에 참여할 수 있는 기회를 다시 한 번 가질 수 있었습니다.
XIS가 이전에도 여러 차례 워리어 게임 행사를 진행한 적이 있었지만 워리어게임 행사를 학생들이 스스로 기획, 조직, 집행한 것은 이번이 처음입니다. 고등학생들 전체가 워리어 게임에 모두 참가한 것도 이번이 처음입니다. XIS 학생들이 시안의 아가페 워리어 하우스에서 온 우리의 특별한 손님들에게 원반 던지기 야구, 장애물 코스 넘기, 농구 릴레이, 그리고 보체 볼 경기들을 설명하고 이끌면서, 우리 학생들은 경기에 참가하는 이들과 어떻게 교류하고 격려해야 하는지에 대한 창의적인 방법들을 찾았습니다. 우리의 손님들도 XIS 학생들의 안내를 따르면서 좋은 경기를 했고, 기쁜 마음으로 XIS 학생들과 함께 열정적으로 참여하였습니다. 전반적으로, 이 행사는 성공적이었고, 교사들과 학생들의 얼굴에 웃음을 가져다 주었습니다. 저희는 XIS 학생들이 앞으로도 워리어 게임과 기타 다른 행사들을 통해 올 해 참가한 손님들과 계속적으로 의미 있는 관계를 세워가기를 기대합니다. 용사들이여 전진하라!
4月16日星期五，西安国际学校高中生举办了2021年 “勇士游艺会”。 “勇士游艺会”是由XIS社区为当地残疾青少年举办的特殊运动会，也是我校的重要传统，受学校搬迁及新冠疫情的影响中断两年。 特此感谢XIS学生会外联部通过悉心工作使这一密切联系社区的活动得以复原。
尽管我校过去已经举办过几次这项活动，但这是第一次完全由学生计划、组织和实施的“勇士游艺会”，同时也是我校高中生首次全员参与该活动。我校学生带领来自西安“Agape勇士之家”的特殊客人们通过飞盘棒球、障碍赛、篮球接力赛和地掷球等运动，寻找创造性的方式来与参与者互动并鼓励他们。我们的客人也很擅长运动，他们听从我校学生的指导，并积极与之互动。 总的来说，这次活动是很成功的，为我校员工和同学们带来了许多欢笑。期待今后的“勇士游艺会”和其他机会能使我校学生与这次活动的参与者们继续保持联系与交流。加油吧，勇士们！
