Writing is a creative process; a chance to explore new ideas, thoughts, and expressions. Sometimes, in a student’s busy schedule, it may be hard to find time to explore these things. At XIS, Writers’ Club provides our student’s a unique opportunity where this exploration can happen in a supportive, collaborative, and open-ended setting. This semester, XIS students began development of a script for our Middle School and High School Drama Club performance. To conclude their semester, students will be going on an adventure via the table top game Dungeons and Dragons! Under the guidance of advisors Liz Ware and Elisa Kahler, the students created their characters, have rolled their statistics, and are now ready to venture forth to fantastical lands!
Some ask, “What is the ‘A’ in STEAM?” Why, that’s for Art of course! In our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) Club, students integrate what is normally learned in most STEM clubs with an artistic twist. During the current unit of STEAM Club, students are building technology-infused bracelets! Under the supervision of Mr. Dan Chang, our Warriors are having a blast being creative with technology! We are all looking forward to see what they make next!
On Tuesday, December 15, the XIS Varsity Boys Basketball team played an exhibition game against the XIS Staff. With both teams battling throughout, the Varsity Boys came away with the 53-24 win. The next game to be played will be the XIS Varsity Girls Basketball team playing host to the XIS Staff on Tuesday, December 21 at 3:45pm.
Beyond bragging rights, we would like to offer a special ‘thank you’ to our amazing XIS Staff! They stepped up and volunteered to ensure our students played games against new competition before the Christmas Holiday Break. Not only will these opportunities provide valuable game experience for our students, but they will also reinforce the sense of community at XIS. Thank you XIS Staff for continually cultivating excellence by caring for the well-being of our community!
