Admissions Process

Thank you for considering XIS for your child’s education.

Because of our high academic standards, XIS uses a rigorous entrance process which includes the following:

  • Benchmark exams (math and English)
  • English speaking and listening test for non-native English speaking students.

Students with low English skills will not be accepted at this time. Students with moderate English skills may be accepted if they enroll in our after-school English Language Program for an additional fee.

XIS upholds a non-discriminatory policy and accepts applications from any eligible student. Students are required to hold a passport issued by a country other than the People’s Republic of China. We welcome applications regardless of race, gender, religion, class, or economic status.

Parents and students are required to have an interview with the school principal prior to enrollment. This is an opportunity to learn more about the XIS philosophy, curriculum, and facilities, as well as a chance to have any additional questions answered.

All new students are required to take a basic entrance exam given by the school that covers reading, writing, grammar & punctuation, speaking & listening, as well as math. The Admissions Committee will then evaluate proficiency, as indicated by the test results, to help assess placement and make sure we can meet the needs of each student.
